Dear Yu Xiaofeng,

Let me tell you how much I enjoyed our conversation and discussion regarding non-traditional security issues. I think that the creation of a new centre on Peace and New Security comes at he right time. Many scholars in China and the world study the question but there is still very little systematic treatment of the subject, so far, as represented in your book. In both Fudan and Suzhou universities I did not find anybody to deal with the subject thoroughly. In Suzhou at least there is a group led by Prof. Weixing Jin who deal with international terrorism. Here in Beijing I checked with both, Renmin and BeiDa, again very little systematic work in the broad sense of NTS.  So your book and centre are quite in the front line of thinking and I wish you the best of results.

Please find attached a few remarks on the English version of your book outline which your colleague was nice enough to send to me. Once you have a draft of the creation of your centre I will be happy to receive a copy.
