Call for Papers: Global Experience and China’s Development: International Conference on Innovation in Long-term Care Public Policies Theories and Practices

Chinese-style modernization is with the characteristic of a vast number of population. Currently, China is in a crucial transition period from aging before getting rich to gradually getting rich and aging rapidly, and experiences significant shifts towards super aging and longevity with various health statuses. However, despite the emerging demand for extensive long-term care, the long-term care system of China is still in an initial stage, which do not align with the new situations, tasks, and requirements under Chinese-style modernization. In response to these issues, an international conference named International Experience and China’s Development: International Conference  on Innovation in Long-term Care Public Policies Theories and Practices will be hosted by Shandong University, organized by the School of Political Science and Public Administration of Shandong University, in collaboration with the Qingdao Medical Insurance Bureau and Laboratory for Population Big Data and Policy Simulation at Zhejiang University. This conference aims to focus on the forward-looking direction of optimizing public policies for long-term care in China. We would like to combine global innovative practices in long-term care, promote global academic research leadership, and international academic discourse influence to support the national strategy of actively responding to a population aging in China.

 

1. Conference Time and Venue

Dates: June 17th to June 21st, 2024.

Venue: Shandong University, Qingdao Campus, China.

 

2. Conference Format

This conference includes keynote speeches, thematic forum reports, and poster presentations, all conducted offline. Now the paper submissions of this conference is opened. After evaluation by an expert panel, selected authors will be invited to participate by giving oral presentations or displaying posters. The registration fee of this conference is required, with a cost of 300for students and 600 for others. The conference will provide recommendations for hotels (with specified costs) for the attendees, and accommodation and transportation expenses are self-funded. The conference will provide working meals.

 

3. Submission Requirements

Prospective participants are required to submit an abstract of their paper related to China’s long-term care or long-term care insurance system. The topics include but are not limited to:

1. Theoretical issues in international long-term care

2. Policy practices in international long-term care

3. Innovative approaches to long-term care policies and systems

4. International case studies and comparisons

5. Characteristics of long-term care innovations in the post-pandemic era

6. Prediction of aging and disability, and research on policy impacts

7. Sustainable development of long-term care insurance funds

8. Evaluation of pilot cities for long-term care insurance in China and international comparative studies

9. Governance of elderly health in communities and innovation in long-term care

10. Home care and innovation in long-term care systems

11. Long-term care models and the labor supply of caregivers

12. Time banking and caregiver respite services

13. Prevention of elder abuse

14. International comparison of autonomy care

15. Impact of healthy life expectancy on sustainable development of long-term care

16. Elderly welfare and social security

17. Research on the construction of palliative care service systems

18. Research on the care of disabled/demented older people
