A high-level conference on “Non-Traditional Security: The Wold and China” was held on 21 & 22 November 2008. The conference was co-supported by Zhejiang University, China Institute of International Strategic Studies, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and the Development Research Centre of the State Council.

The conference brought together prominent scholars and expertise in international relations and non-traditional security studies; and government leaders at the decision-making level to discuss “the most urgent, the most realistic and the most important” issues in China’s non-traditional security field.

JIANG Zhenghua, the former vice Chairman of National People’s Congress; LIU Jiyuan, the former Minister of Aeronautics and Astronautics; and NI Yuefeng, vice Chairman of Standing Committee member of the NPC Environmental and Resources Committee attended the conference. XIA Baolong, deputy secretary of the CPC Zhejiang Province; ZHANG Xi, the party secretary of Zhejiang University attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches.
