The Non-Traditional Security and Peaceful Development Local Research Centre of Zhejiang University was sat up at the Party School of Shaoxing Municipal Party Committee on 30 December 2008. WANG Yuzhi (Vice Party Secretary of Zhejiang University); SHI Jixi (Deputy Secretary of Shaoxing Municipal Party Committee); WANG Wenxu (The Commissioner of Standing Committee and Discipline Inspection Committee of Shaoxing City); and others were presented at the founding ceremony.

The main research of the centre will be based on the experiences of Shaoxing area, and to focus on empirical research in local NTS management. The research will give particular emphasis on the study of “Fengqiao Experiences”, and hope to examine the applicability of this model into other areas. In addition, the centre hopes to develop a training programme for leadership in local governments in the area of non-traditional security management.
