The Project – “A Research on Building Abilities for Responding to Non-traditional Security Threats in China” – has been successfully approved by the Ministry of Education, China in December 2008. Prof. YU Xiaofeng, Director of the NTS-PD, is the head of the project. The following scholars are also responsible for the project, they are: Prof. MI Hong, Deputy Director of the NTS-PD; Prof. WANG Yizhou, honorary Director of the NTS-PD; Prof. ZHU Feng, Academic Advisory; Prof. HU Shuigen, Research Fellow; Prof. CHEN Guoquan, Research Fellow; and Dr CUI Shunji, Research Fellow.

The main purpose of this project is to learn and construct policy-oriented theories and frameworks to guide policy area of NTS issues; and to enhance what is called ‘security sector reform’ in China. The final object is aimed at building system and structure that may help China to be capable of managing NTS challenges, and to enhance its cooperation with wider regional and global actors in the area of security governance.
