Main Events:

1.       April 13-14: Pro. Yu and his research team made a field study on “Non-traditional security capability building, in the perspective of local civil defense” in Shenzhen, China.

2.       May7, Prof. Yu participated the International conference on “International Workshop on New Donors and Actors in Development and Human Security”, Ewha Womans University, Seoul, Korea. Prof. Yu gave an oral presentation on “Human Security: Its Value and Prospects in the Chinese Context”. Besidesresearch assistant Li Jia and Liao Danzi of NTS-PD centre also made presentations on the conference, respectively on “Non-traditional security capabilities building from the perspective of human security” and “human security and China: A constructive relationship” .

3.       May 11: Pro. Yu and his Ph.D students made a field study on “Non-traditional security capability building, in the perspective of local civil defense” in National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Seoul, Korea.

4.       May 13, Pro. Yu and officials coming from Shaoxing city hold a forum on the program “Public Power Supervision”.

5.       May 21: Pro. Robert Art and Robert Ross gave a lecture on “US and emerging China”. Robert J. Art is Christian A. Herter Professor of International Relations at Brandeis University, where he teaches international relations and specializes in national security affairs and American foreign policy. He is also a senior advisor at the Security Studies Program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and director of MIT’s Seminar XXI Program. Robert S. Ross is Professor of Political Science at Boston College and Associate, John King Fairbank Center for Chinese Studies, Harvard University. 

6.       May 16-24, Pro. Yu and Pro. Amitav Acharya are practicing field studies in Lanzhou, Yan’an.
