Author: Time:2012-02-28 Hits:5

The second NTS-PD Security Governance Seminar (SGS) was held at room 206 of College of Public Administration on 28 Feb. at 6:30-9:30PM. Peace Studies was its central topic and The Realization of Life (by Rabindranath Tagore) was the book for group discussion. Ph.D candidate Taona was the presenter, Danzi Liao was the commenter, and Ran Zhou was the moderator

At the beginning, Taona briefly introduced the origin, the main historical development, the contemporary situation, and the shortcomings about Peace Studies. Then he shared with us his recent research on (de)securitization, and more importantly showed an analytical graph to theorize the process of (de)securitization. As a neutral researcher, Taona admitted that this analytical framework mainly was developed from the current security practices of Republic of Zimbabwe where he came from and therefore has kinds of limitations on its application in other contexts, typically such as Chin. Then Dr. Shunji Cui, doctoral student Danzi Liao, and others gave their comments.

After that, each participated student communicated with each other the latest dynamic developments of the main countries and areas and their individual knowledge and learning on The Realization of Life. Pro.Yu gave feedbacks and all participants shared their ideas and views Also specially, Yuqi Li, during the rest time for the purpose of bringing some relaxed liveness to the seminar, she shared with us the tea culture and tea art.

This seminar provided a chance for NTS-PDers to better understand Peace Studies, (de)securitization theory, and the realization of life, and more importantly to create an arena to team learning and organizational learning.
